Acting Out Cardiff
Acting Out Cardiff is an award winning Performing Arts project run at the Sherman in collaboration with Cardiff Schools Services as part of the Extended Opportunities programme.

The project is open to Year 10 & 11 pupils (aged 14 -16) , and it offers each student the chance to engage with an exciting programme which delivers a range of performing arts skills and valuable experience of working as an artist within a professional theatre company.
Over a two year period each group will work as performers in no fewer than four productions, as well as having an input into the technical and creative areas such as wardrobe, lighting design, set design/construction, sound design/operating, or directing. While gaining skills in all of these areas and learning about different performing arts prospects, each student completes the BTEC level 1 diploma in performing arts, the equivalent to two GCSE’s.
To deliver the BTEC, Acting Out Cardiff work in partnership with Coleg Glan Hafren who over the years have accepted a growing number of pupils from the AOC course into further education.
The different types of skills gained through the programme include: stage combat, circus skills, body percussion, singing, dancing, and of course, acting. The students also create co-productions with a diverse range of youth and community groups.
