Acting Out Cardiff
Acting Out Cardiff is an award-winning Performing Arts project run in collaboration with Cardiff Schools Services as part of the Extended Opportunities programme.

"To me Acting Out
is somewhere
I can be myself
and no-one judges me."
- Acting Out Cardiff student
If you’re aged between 14 and 16 and are at school, or if you’re aged between 14 – 20 and are an asylum seeker, refugee or are not in education, employment or training (NEET), then you are eligible to become a member of Acting Out Cardiff.
Participants take part in weekly drama workshops for one or two years to gain a BTEC Level 1 Diploma qualification (the equivalent of 2 GCSEs).
During the course you will learn new skills including acting, movement, vocal technique, stage combat, circus skills, and body percussion. You will put these skills into practice when you work on productions throughout the year and you will also get to create co-productions with a wide range of youth and community groups.
As well as performing you will learn about and contribute to other technical and creative areas such as wardrobe, lighting design, set design/construction, sound design/operating and directing.
You do not need to have any acting or performing experience but you must be able to commit to one day a week (during school term times) for the duration of the course.
