Community Engagement

   New Arrivals 1

The Sherman Cymru Community Engagement Project creates artistic opportunities for asylum seekers and refugees to work creatively alongside members of receiving communities. We run weekly workshops for participants and we are also able to run one-off workshops for asylum seeker/refugee organisations, community groups and schools. Our workshops offer a safe arena for creative learning so that participants can learn new skills whilst also growing in confidence and self esteem. The workshops also provide the opportunity to meet new people living in your community.

We are very keen to work in partnership with Community groups and organisations. If you have an idea, or project that you think we may be able to work collaboratively on then please contact us to set up a meeting.

Company 5

Do you want to act?
Do you want to improve your communication skills and work as a team?

We are looking for anyone aged 18 and above, from varied backgrounds and cultures, to help us create a diverse new theatre group. The group will meet weekly to learn new skills in acting, voice and movement, whilst all the time developing confidence and communication skills. The group will also work on small-scale productions in and around Cardiff so that you can share what you’ve learnt with members of your community.

It is totally free to join and you don’t need any previous experience.

If you are an asylum seeker, refugee or are not in education, employment or training (NEET) then you are also eligible to take part in Acting Out Cardiff

For more information about any of our Community Engagement workshops or projects please contact Jason Camilleri or Llinos Mai / 029 2064 6908

No singing experience is needed and all women are welcome. There is a small play area for younger children too.

Sessions take place every Wednesday, 12.00 -1.30pm at Phoenix House, 389 Newport Road, Cardiff.
