Sherman Cymru’s award-winning production, Deep Cut, which received critical acclaim at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, has been receiving rave reviews since it opened this week at London’s Tricycle Theatre for a month long run.

Winner of a Scotsman Fringe Fringe First, Herald Angel, the Amnesty Freedom of Expression Award and both Best Actress (Rhian Blythe) and Best Actor (Ciaran McIntyre) at the Stage Awards for Acting Excellence, Deep Cut was one of the must-see shows of the Edinburgh Festival.

The rights to the play have now also been optioned by Michael Winterbottom and Andrew Eaton's company Revolution Films and a screenplay is currently in development.

Daily Express reviewer, Paul Callan described Philip Ralph’s Deep Cut as “…a tense and deeply thought-provoking play” and gave praise to the cast:

“Ciaran McIntyre as Des and Rhian Morgan as the emotional Doreen bring great intensity to their difficult roles.”

“Simon Molloy is grippingly realistic as Nicholas Blake QC…”

Financial Times reviewer, Sarah Hemming said:

“Deep Cut joins the Tricycle’s admirable list of verbatim dramas that use the public forum of theatre to ask the awkward questions and keep on asking them.”

Artistic Director at the Tricycle Theatre, Nicholas Kent said:

“The Tricycle Theatre is delighted that we are premiering Deep Cut in London. The unanswered questions over the tragic deaths need a full public inquiry and this play forcibly makes that case. It is very much in the tradition of the political work that the Tricycle has espoused over the past twenty years.”

The parents of the four soldiers have now re-launched their campaign for a full independent public inquiry, with an online petition gaining signatures quickly.

Deep Cut is on at the Tricycle Theatre until 4 April. For more information on how to book tickets visit the Tricycle website
