Sponsored Story-tell Helps To Raise Money For Redevelopment Campaign

09 Jun 2010

Members of Sherman Cymru’s Saturday Sherbets workshops held a fancy dress party and sponsored story-tell on Saturday 29 May to help raise money towards Sherman Cymru’s Redevelopment Campaign.

The little Sherbets members who are aged between 4 and 9 years of age all learnt a well-known fairytale story which they then told back as a group. The older 7 to 9 year olds had the more challenging task of creating their own story on the day. Judging their creative story-telling skills was Paddy the Clown, who then performed for the 60 assembled Sherbets (including a pirate, a bee, a few princesses and a sheep!) at a fancy dress tea party.

Sherman Sherbets Story-tell

The idea for the sponsored story-tell and fancy dress party came after one Sherbet suggested it would be a good way for the group to raise money for Sherman Cymru’s Redevelopment Campaign.

Sherman Cymru is currently closed in preparation for work to start on a substantial redevelopment of the theatre building which will re-open in autumn 2011. The money raised from the sponsored story-tell will directly benefit the Sherbets members as well as future generations of young people who will use the building and its facilities. The new building will transform backstage areas to create an improved environment for young people to develop their creative talents.
