Sherman Cymru/Torri Gair
By Conor McPherson
Translated by Wil Sam Jones

A tribute to the late Wil Sam.

In a small pub in rural Ireland, three local bachelors gather for their customary pint and chat. But tonight Finbar Mack sails in from town with a young woman, new to the area, under his wing. As the warmth of the peat fire draws them in and the effect of the drink gently oils their discourse, they all in turn reveal something of their past – their stories somewhat more ghostly than expected. It is clear this place holds not only some welcome company on a stormy night but also fear, loneliness and longing.

A Welsh translation by Wil Sam, in his own affable, inimitable style, of an eerie tale that explores those momentous events which define the individual and the small, shared experiences that weave us together.

With support from Nant.

This production takes place during the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Cardiff and District 2008.
