Schools Challenge
Sherman Cymru has built up a strong reputation as a producer of theatre for young people in South Wales, with thousands of children visiting the theatre every year. For many children, this is their first live theatre experience.
Schools can now support and help raise funds for Sherman Cymru’s Redevelopment Campaign by joining in our Schools Challenge to ensure that we have a theatre that is inviting, relaxing and safe so that children can continue to enjoy high quality theatre.
Langstone Primary School, Newport were the first to kick off the Schools Challenge and they raised £130.

“We were pleased to have a non-uniform day in support of the refurbishment of the new theatre. Pupils from Langstone have enjoyed the opportunity of seeing live theatre for many years and are pleased to know that thse opportunities will continue.” Beverley Cole, Head Teacher at Langstone Primary School.
How can you raise money?
We are asking local schools, with which Sherman Cymru has a strong relationship, to take part in a fundraising challenge.
We have tried to make The Schools Challenge straightfoward and easy to organise, as we know how busy schools are with a variety of activities. We are asking schools to organise a ‘non-uniform day’ for pupils and staff and for all proceeds to go towards the redevelopment campaign.
In return we are happy to:
• Talk to you and your pupils in an assembly about fundraising and the theatre before your Schools Challenge event.
• Acknowledgement of your school participating in the Schools Challenge in publicity and on our website
• Opportunity for the pupils to meet, and have photos taken with, the redevelopment mascot – our Campervan.
• Certificate for the school, acknowledging the fundraising achievement
• Each pupil will receive a self assemble campervan moneybox to take home.
